Christmas Retreat for Military Families

The holidays should be a joyous time full of family, fun, and relaxation; but, for many military families, the holidays can be a stressful and lonely.  Gravatt’s Christmas Retreat for Military Families offers service men and women the chance to relax, reconnect, and enjoy holiday traditions.

This year’s retreat will be December 18 – 21, 2013. Families from the Army, Air Force, Marines, Navy, and National Guard who are unable to go home for the holidays will enjoy delicious, homemade meals, making ginger bread houses, the high and low ropes course, zip line, canoeing, fishing, evening activities, a visit from Santa, and more.
Reach Out Camp
Reach Out Camp (ROC) is a special session offered free of charge to children in 2nd - 9th grade with one or more parent incarcerated. This wonderful program is made possible through community partnerships and the generosity of individual donors.

The Camp Gravatt program and activities include most of the traditional things associated with camp--archery, arts and crafts, canoeing, hiking, swimming, challenge course, campfires, songs, skits, as well as time for worshiping and developing camp community. A chaplain will be on hand throughout the session to help children who are having a difficult time dealing with the stress of having a parent in prison.

Camper Scholarship Fund

Faith camp is an experience that should be readily available for all children. It is our philosophy that no child will miss out on the Gravatt experience due to financial reasons. In 2012 and 2013, Gravatt awarded over $20,000 to families who requested financial assistance.
