Where to Go and What to Bring
We’ll assemble at the time indicated on your contract in
the parking lot of the Conference Center as we begin our
ropes adventure. Please bring your signed
release form.
For your safety, leave jewelry (rings, watches, necklaces,
ear rings), pagers, and cell phones at home or in your car.
Comfortable, layered clothing and sturdy sneakers or hiking
boots are recommended. Avoid nylon shorts and
open-toed shoes. You may want a hat, bug repellant, or a
water bottle. Water will be provided throughout the day, as
will lunch and an afternoon drink break.
Weather
If rain is predicted, bring a poncho if you wish. We do
not cancel for weather unless the safety of our groups or
facilitators is compromised. If rain turns into a
thunderstorm, we’ll seek shelter away from the ropes and
trees. All cancellations are at the discretion of our
staff.
Physical Concerns and Challenge by Choice
Concerned about whether you’re physically up for this
adventure? Gravatt’s ropes course is designed for using the
team’s brains and collective brawn to reach goals. Almost
anyone can participate in the Adventure and Discovery Center
programs, even people with physical disabilities.
Please let our staff know if you have concerns of which we
should be aware.
Gravatt practices Challenge by Choice: participants choose
their own level of participation, and staff and group
members support participants as they decide how and when to
move in and out of their own comfort zones.
Safety
Worried about safety? The course was built by
professionals in this business, is inspected monthly, and
all equipment regularly maintained. Gravatt's staff is
highly trained to custom design your experience. All
facilitators participate in on-site continuing education in
facilitation and safety and have additional certifications
in First Aid and CPR.
